Why Things Are So Hard for You

You have been hypnotized without your consent and you don’t even know it.

Have you ever seen a stage hypnosis show where someone is hypnotized so they cluck like a chicken, speak gibberish or something as simple as not being able to put on their coat correctly? In the coat example, the person literally won’t be able to put on their coat as hard as they try. They might stuff their leg in a sleeve or wrap it around their head and proudly smile at their accomplishment. Then, in the next moment, they frown, bewildered and amazed because they realize something is wrong, but can’t figure out what that is. There are two factors at play:

1. The person doesn’t remember being hypnotized.
2. The person’s conscious mind still believes it is in charge, but it is not…at all!

What most people don’t realize is that from the ages of 1–7 we are existing in a hypnotic trance similar to the person in the stage hypnosis show. This trance allows the subconscious mind to learn quickly, everything from how to speak the language and get food to what the customs are and who to trust. The supremacy of the subconscious mind allows children to survive in this new, strange world.

Afterward, we get hypnotized more in school through the repetition of mostly bad beliefs that have scarcity and fear at their roots. We get…
